On the morning of December 16, 2024, at 8:58 a.m., the 3800mm roughing mill of Huaxi Special Steel’s heavy-wide plate production line began rolling. After the processes of finish rolling, straightening, and cooling, the first qualified steel plate was produced! The entire production process ran smoothly, with high dimensional accuracy, straight plate shape, and good surface quality, marking the successful completion of the hot load test!

Since the project commenced on December 15, 2023, the company’s leadership has attached great importance to the project. The project management team has carefully organized and scientifically coordinated the efforts, with the construction units and factory employees working together to overcome difficulties and ensure that the project progressed rapidly, meeting quality and quantity standards. The hot test plan was meticulously prepared, and operators underwent comprehensive pre-production training, ensuring that the heavy-wide plate project was ready for the hot test as scheduled and successfully passed the test on the first attempt.

The 3800mm production line of Huaxi Special Steel uses a double-frame, high-rigidity, four-roll mill, and employs internationally advanced PRIMETALS technology for basic automation and process automation systems, ensuring precision in product thickness and width. The powerful pre-straightening machine and hot-straightening machine create favorable conditions for producing flat heavy-wide plates. The on-line ultrasonic automatic flaw detection system ensures the internal quality of products leaving the factory. The design capacity is 2 million tons per year, covering a wide range of steel products including structural steel for high-rise buildings, welded structural steel, bridge structural steel, weather-resistant structural steel, steel for shipbuilding and offshore engineering, steel for boilers and pressure vessels, line pipe steel plates, automotive frame steel plates, and high-strength, wear-resistant steel plates for construction machinery. Product specifications range from 6mm to 200mm in thickness, 1600mm to 3650mm in width, and 6000mm to 18000mm in length.
